IMBALANCE IN WOMEN
Hot flashes? Uncontrollable weight fluctuations? We use estrogen and progesterone to treat common symptoms of menopause and aging in women.

IMBALANCE IN MEN
Testosterone declines after age 30. Testosterone balancing can improve your reproductive function, increase muscle bulk, and elevate your bone density.

BIO-IDENTICAL HRT

Using a combination of FDA approved hormones which are scientifically matched at a molecular level to suit your specific body type.

Hormone replacement therapy – also known as HRT– uses male and
female hormones – testosterone, estrogen and progesterone – to treat common symptoms of sexual dysfunction, menopause and aging. Hormones function as your body’s chemical messengers, playing an integral part in how each of our bodies work, ensuring that our bodies operate “according to plan.”

Created by your endocrine glands, hormones travel through the bloodstream to signal your organs and tissues to how to function properly. Approximately after the age of 30, both men and women experience a decline in hormone production, causing a range of symptoms like hot flashes and vaginal dryness, low libido, sexual dysfunction, and which can sometimes lead to conditions like osteoporosis. To combat these, HRT replaces these hormones that your body no longer makes.

Do I Need HRT?

Our hormones labor in a specific balance with other chemicals in our body to guarantee certain results, but as we age, however, our hormones run the risk of falling out of balance, producing various side effects that range from minor – like tiredness or irritability – to major – like diabetes and weight gain.

Arguably the worst aspect of hormone imbalance is feeling out of control of your body. Suddenly, your body no longer functions the way you have come to expect, and that can be scary and uncomfortable. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) offers individuals the potential to feel in control of their bodies again.

In women, systemic estrogen balancing is the most effective treatment for menopausal symptoms, a major reason to consider HRT. You may benefit from hormone replacement therapy if you:

  • Experience moderate to severe hot flashes, or other menopausal symptoms
  • Have lost bone mass and aren’t getting results from other treatments
  • Stopped having your period before age 40, or have lost normal function of your ovaries before age 40.

For those women who have experienced an early menopause, or have had their ovaries removed and don’t take estrogen therapy, you may want to consider hormone replacement therapy to reduce your risk of conditions such as:

  • Osteoporosis
  • Coronary heart disease
  • Earlier death
  • Parkinsonism (Parkinson’s-like symptoms)
  • Anxiety or depression
  • Insomnia
  • Diabetes

MEN, HRT can help you out too! As you age, your testosterone levels decrease, leading to a range of symptoms including hampered sexual development and reproductive function, loss of muscle bulk, lowering red blood cell level, and reduced bone density. HRT can also help reduce the symptoms of low testosterone, in men who suffer from a disease called hypogonadism – a dysfunction of the testicles.
What Types of HRT Are Available for Men?

If one of our qualified practitioners suggests that you may benefit from testosterone therapy, there are several options available:

  • Muscular injections weekly
  • Daily testosterone patches – which can be worn on the body between the back, arms, buttocks, or abdomen
  • Gels which can be applied to the shoulders, arms, or abdomen.
  • Capsules, troches or rapid dissolving tablets

Hormone Replacement Therapy: Balance Your Hormones for a Better Life

There are different types of hormonal imbalance, and each imbalance has different symptoms. At AgeVital Wellness centers, we can treat the most common hormonal imbalances with Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement, a version of HRT that utilizes hormones that are molecularly identical to the hormones currently in your body.

AgeVital Wellness Centers offer hormone replacement therapy for the
following hormonal imbalances:

Bio-identical Estrogen
The balance of estrogen is closely tied to presence of progesterone in the body, as the two work hand in hand. Too much estrogen without enough progesterone is called “estrogen dominance” and can cause headaches, bloating, weight gain, breast tenderness and may be linked with breast and uterine cancer. Other estrogen imbalances, as caused by post-menopause, can produce decreased sexual function and libido, as well as osteoporosis, hot flashes, weight gain and behavior changes ranging from depression to irritability to mood swings.

Bio-Identical Progesterone (for men and women)
Progesterone is a hormone involved in the female menstrual cycle and pregnancy, and therefore affects both pre- and post-menopausal women. Progesterone also plays a role in skin elasticity and bone strength and is important to the regulation of ovulation and menstruation. Low levels in younger women are associated with infertility and menstrual irregularities. Post-menopausal women with low progesterone levels will experience severe hot flashes, arthritis, mood swings and depression. Hormone replacement therapy can be an effective way to counter these symptoms.

Bio-Identical Testosterone (for men and women)
Testosterone is a steroid hormone found in both males and females which declines naturally with age in both sexes. Testosterone contributes to the growth of muscle mass, strength, and bone density, as well as playing a major role in the development of reproductive tissues. Testosterone deficiency in males is characterized by diminished libido, erectile dysfunction, loss of body hair and depression. In women, deficiency of testosterone is characterized by absence of menstruation, decreased libido, hair loss and hot flashes. Testosterone hormone replacement therapy can return your body’s testosterone to its balanced levels.

Bio-identical Human Growth Hormone (HGH)
HGH is a hormone that stimulates growth, cell regeneration and reproduction in humans. Growth hormone deficiency is caused by issues in the pituitary gland and has different effects at different ages. Low levels of HGH in adults is common and can manifest as lean body mass, poor bone den-sity, and other psychological symptoms like memory loss and depression. Luckily, hormone replacement therapy is an effective method to reverse these changes.

Bio-identical Thyroid
The thyroid hormone controls metabolism and energy and can have dangerous effects when levels are low. Deficiency of the thyroid hormone, also called hypothyroidism, can cause extreme weight gain, hair loss, constipation, fatigue, and trouble with memory. Low thyroid issues can also cause slowed speech, carpal tunnel syndrome, and goiters. As monitoring hormones is a delicate balancing act, too much thyroid hormone can be just as dangerous, causing extreme weight loss and bulging eyes. Hormone replacement therapy can help balance out the levels of your thyroid hormone allowing you to get back to feeling like yourself again.

Bio-identical Dehydroepiandrosterone
DHEA is a hormone created by the adrenal glands and is a precursor to all major sex hormones. It is common for DHEA production to significantly drop off as we age, and women typically have lower levels of DHEA than men. Though DHEA supplements are offered over-the-counter in the US, as DHEA is a strong steroid hormone, we suggest coming in to assess your DHEA levels and pursue treatment under professional supervision. Symptoms of decreased levels of DHEA are extreme fatigue, low libido, decreased muscle mass, depression and aching joints. If you have begun to experience these symptoms, hormone replacement therapy may be right for you.

Bio-available Melatonin
Melatonin is a hormone that plays a large role in the sleep cycle, as the catalyst for melatonin secretion is decreased exposure to light. Low levels of melatonin can cause anxiety and are tied to diabetes. Signs of a melatonin deficiency are insomnia, depression, elevated cholesterol, high blood pressure, and sensitivity to stress.

Bio-identical Pregnenolone
Pregnenolone is a hormone tasked with controlling the sex and adrenal hormones of the body. Not only does pregnenolone control other hormones, it also improves the transmission of communication between brain cells. Those with low pregnenolone suffer from low energy, low to extreme moodiness, and short-term memory failure.

Depression and cluster headaches are also signs of low pregnenolone
